The SURWEY project, an ongoing retrospective chart review spearheaded by physicians in Germany, France, and Italy, reports data from 70 German patients diagnosed with both EDS and narcolepsy. Eligibility was contingent upon being 18 years old, attaining a stable solriamfetol dose, and completing six weeks of the treatment protocol. The patients were grouped into three subgroups—changeover, add-on, or new-to-therapy—based on their current EDS treatment.
A mean patient age of 36.91 years was observed, along with a standard deviation of 13.9 years. Initiating EDS medication frequently involved switching from prior therapies. A typical starting dose of solriamfetol was 75mg daily, accounting for 69% of the patients. Thirty patients (43%) underwent solriamfetol titration; 27 (90%) successfully completed the prescribed titration, the majority within 7 days. Initial measurements of the MeanSD Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS) revealed a score of 17631 among 61 participants; this score reduced to 13638 following the follow-up period among 51 participants. Over ninety percent of patients experienced perceived improvements in EDS, as confirmed through both patient and physician feedback. Sixty-two percent of respondents reported an effect duration between six and ten hours, excluding ten hours; seventy-two percent reported no change in their perceived nighttime sleep quality. Frequently reported adverse reactions included headaches (9%), a reduced appetite (6%), and insomnia (6%); no cardiovascular issues were reported.
From a prior EDS medication, a large proportion of the patients in this study were subsequently treated with solriamfetol. Solriamfetol treatment often began with a daily dose of 75mg, and titration was a common practice. Collectively, the fat-based dietary interventions resulted in a statistically significant increase in muscle saturated fatty acids, specifically C16:0 (P = 0.0025) and C18:0 (P < 0.0001), along with an elevation in total monounsaturated fatty acids (P = 0.0008), thus regulating the ratio of unsaturated and saturated fatty acids in muscle tissue. The digestibility of dry matter (P = 0.0014), crude protein (P = 0.0038), and ether extract (P = 0.0036) was significantly augmented by the MIX diet. The SFA diet's effect was demonstrably positive on daily weight gain (P = 0.0032), as well as on intramuscular fat content (P = 0.0043). Utilizing an online experimental survey administered to a nationally representative quota sample (N = 1142) of Italians, this study explored the characteristics of those who consumed red or processed meat above the recommended levels set by the World Health Organization. Using a between-subjects experimental design, the study investigated if two health-related frame nudges (societal and individual consequences of excessive meat consumption) influenced participants' intentions to decrease their future meat intake. Overconsumption was observed in individuals following an omnivore diet, with meat consumption significantly exceeding that of their peers, in larger households, and with a positive moral perspective toward meat consumption, the results demonstrate. In a supplementary observation, both prompts proved impactful in improving future inclinations to diminish meat consumption among those who consumed more than the WHO recommends. The two frame-nudges proved more impactful on women, parents, and those reporting lower self-assessed health.
